NATURE IS MY CLASS
A Creative & Holistic Educational Space for Children
The program fosters children from the age of 6 until 16 studying in various schools of Kalimpong from low income families. Held every Saturday at HTNHA campus in Relli, it provides a nurturing and joyful space for children to learn together at one’s own pace. We conduct sessions on mindfulness, language, arithmetic, storytelling, nature studies, botanical art and illustration, music, cooperative games, music, body movement and many more from 10 AM to 3 PM throughout the year.
39 children from 9 schools of varying ages attended these Saturday classes in the year 2024.
Marked improvement was seen in all areas of functioning – behavioral, creative, artistic, cognitive, socio-emotional, physical and linguistic.
Children pick up essential life skills like teamwork, communication, collaboration, mutual care and support, responsibility, listening, sharing and leadership.

Individual mentoring, guidance and counseling support is provided on need basis.

A non-threatening, play way method enables them to learn on their own as well as in groups.

Open space for sharing their thoughts, feelings and ideas promotes healthy dialogue and conflict resolution.

Regular parent teacher meetings are held to connect with the family/ guardians and create a mutually supportive learning community.

Exposure visit, field trips and picnics are organized to generate interest and foster real world connect.

Conservation of nature and awareness building towards sustainable development and responsible behavior & practices through formation of SDG club in partnership with Bharat Soka Gakkai, Delhi
