Roots to Wings
Education being a holistic process involves a multi-pronged approach to learning and development. Unfortunately, education in schools is still governed by a lack of interest and understanding of concepts. There is no inter connectedness with the life of the learner let alone the natural environment and society which they are an inseparable part of. Children in particular from rural schools end up studying hard for marks and passing the examinations without any joy in learning. This rhythmic pattern is further aggravated by the penetration of internet, social media and technology in their lives where children are seen spending more time than to go out and venture into their immediate environment. Again adolescence being a stage of physical, emotional and cognitive changes, the young learners is further vulnerable to misinformation and influences that can cause a detrimental impact in their lives for years to come.
Objectives: The current intervention aims at addressing the overall growth and development of adolescents studying in Government Schools in the hilly town of Kalimpong through life skills and holistic education. The overall goal is to help the adolescents emerge as ripe personalities through smooth transition into adulthood.
• One of the prime goals is to provide and nourish a space for young people to reflect, share and act upon themselves in order to deal effectively with their life challenges.
• It further entails pursuance of a sense of self-worth, perceive and strengthen the interconnections of The Self with other aspects of existence including family, intimate relationships, society and environment.
• Nature and the local environment shall act as their real world classroom. This will help them learn in a non-threatening atmosphere and develop a sense of self inquiry.
• Amalgamation of the 3 H’s – Head, Heart and Hands to cater to all kinds of learners using a holistic approach.

NATURE IN ART EVENT -
We organise an annual event to celebrate and highlight
our efforts at HTNHA. The Nature in Art International Event
offers a unique opportunity for these young minds to
engage and learn from other like-minded individuals,
students, groups, institutes, and organisations from
around the world. It also allows them to explore various
aspects of their lives through a celebration of diverse
skills and the gathering of beautiful creative minds, while
learning to research, value, honour, preserve, and
celebrate their own traditions, cultures, nature, and
environment, thereby bridging the gap between art,
science, and other fields. This has a profound impact
when you feel the combination of the three H'
s: head,
heart, and hands
